MeshOptimiserBeta Download

Download and unzip

On Windows, one installer does it all. For macOS, or to do it by hand, get the zip and unpack it into a normal folder.

On Windows the easiest start is the installer: double-click Install-MeshOptimiser.bat from the Download page and it does everything below for you (see Install on Windows). On macOS, or if you prefer to do it by hand, MeshOptimiser comes as one zip file. Everything, including its Python environment, lives in the folder you unpack.

  1. Open the Download page of this site and press Download .zip (macOS). It is the same zip on Windows. Your browser saves a zip file, usually in your Downloads folder.
  2. Unpack the zip. On Windows, right-click it and choose the option to extract everything. On macOS, double-click it.
  3. You now have a folder named after the zip: MeshOptimiser-v and the version number. Move it wherever you like, for example into your Documents folder.
  4. Open the folder. You should see start.bat, start_hidden.vbs, start.command, Install MeshOptimiser.bat, the README and one folder called app. The program itself is inside app.

Where to put the folder

  • Somewhere you are allowed to write files. The app creates two folders inside app: .venv for its Python environment and inbox for converted files.
  • On a drive with about 2 GB free.

To remove the app later, delete the folder. Nothing is installed anywhere else, apart from Python itself if you installed it for this.

Pick how you run it.
